For most families in many rural communities the absence of a functional hospital remains a major challenge. But this is about to change in Ozala/Obogidi autonomous community in Nsukka Local Government Area of  Enugu State as the foundation for an ultramodern  hospital to be single-handedly built by the Igwe-elect, High Chief Samuel Ikechukwu Asadu (Okenwa Ogadagidi) has been laid.

For the people of the community, life is an unending daily struggle as mother-infant mortality rate is very high owing to the lack of functional basic health care centre. Hence, they have to travel several kilometers to seek medical attention in Nsukka the local council headquarters.

Oftentimes, lives were lost before help could come, just as other challenges including lack of basis amenities like good roads, electricity and pipe borne water had made the lives of the people become more challenging.

But there appears to be light at the end of the tunnel when recently the foundation of a befitting medical centre sponsored by the Igwe-elect, High Chief Samuel Ikechukwu Asadu (Okenwa Ogadagidi) was laid in Ozala, Edem-Ani amidst cheers and jubilation by members of the autonomous community who thronged to building site to witness the epoch-making ceremony.

To the glory of God and admiration of mankind, the Spiritual Director of Enugu State who is also the Administrative Chairman, Nsukka West, Evan. Hon. Chinedu Anichi performed the ceremonial laying for the hospital foundation. He commended the Igwe-elect for his philantropy, describing the act as a demmonstration of generosity worthy of emulation. He urged other members of the community in diaspora to emulate the kind gesture of the Igwe-elect who is relentless in his efforts in helping the less privilleged.

The Spiritual Director maintained that what the Igwe-elect is doing is to alleviate the sufferings of his people as well as complement the efforts of the Governor Ugwuanyis administration, nothing that the governor has taken the challenge to develop the rural communities which past administrations had neglected.

The Igwe-elect, High Chief Samuel Ikechukwu Asadu (Okenwa Ogadagidi) appreciated the community members for coming out en mass to witness the foundation laying ceremony, announcing to them that the project is not a money-making venture as it will render free medical services to the entire people of Ozala/Obogidi autonomous community.

The medical practitioner who is based in the United States of America enjoined other rich men and women in the autonomous community to join him in the move in making the community a better place as there is no place like home.

Some of the community members who spoke with our reporters praised the Igwe-elect for his philanthropy by taking the decision to come back home to help the community instead of concentrating all his might in his city of residence. They expressed joy that their dream of having a health centre in the community has finally come true, praying God to continue to bless the Igwe-elect.

The foundation laying ceremony was attended by prominent personalities which included clerics, top government officials, elders of the community, security agents and a host of others.

Recall that Igwe Ogadagidi recently built a modern house for the family of late Mr. Simon Odome, donated SUV to Edem-Ani neighbourhood watch as well as sponsored over 50 students in tertiary institutions among other landmark projects in Nsukka and beyond.
